MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in Stereo Rose

Stereo Rose is pretty notorious in the online beauty community.  I remember it being raved about online when it came out previously (in 2005 and again in 2010) but I never managed to get my hands on it.
MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in Stereo Rose $34CAD for 10g

MAC will be re-releasing Stereo Rose on Wednesday December 26.  I went to the MAC Pro store yesterday because they release collections one week earlier and luckily they had it in stock.

Mineralize Skinfinishes are marketed as powder highlighters but I know many people use this as a blush.  When swatched Stereo Rose is very pigmented and smooth.  It's probably the best quality powder product I've ever touched.

I don't know what happened to my eyeliner here...
I was expecting this to be the most beautiful orangey/peach blush on....but it's not. It's definately nice but it's not worth all the hype.  Stereo Rose is sheer on my face so I'd have to wear a peach blush underneath to get the effect I want.  Maybe it's just my skintone?  I would imagine it would look better on medium toned skin.

Overall I am happy I have Stereo Rose and I will use it.  I just wouldn't recommend waking up at 5am on Wednesday to get a hold of it.

  4. Aw, I got so excited to see this was being re-released as it looks so gorgeous in the pan, and I love Mac MSFs, so I'm disappointed to hear that it's not all that. I recently purchased a new MSF in Light Year, and that one comes out a really gorgeous peachy shade with a hint of subtle gold shimmer, I'd highly recommend it.

    1. I'm sad I missed out on the collection that Light Year came out in. All of those MSFs looked so pretty. Hopefully they'll re-release it.

    1. Yeah it's kind of "blah" when on. There are much prettier peach blushes out there.

    2. I agree. I recently picked up the Tarina Tarantino blush palette (snagged the last one for all eternity, holy moly) and the two peachy blushes in there are much better than this. 30 dollars for this one product is a bit much too... then again, it's MAC and they love hiking their prices up nowadays, hah.

    3. Yeah I have blushes that cost half the price and are much better. Oh well that's what I get for being dumb enough to believe the hype haha.

  8. I know this whole collection was getting a lot of hype! I only really ever buy lipsticks from MAC's limited editions and so I'm glad I didn't miss anything here although it would be a really pretty spring blush color! I think I really want to try out the eyeshadows! They look so nice.

    1. Yeah I think this would be better in spring or summer. It's not the right colour for this time of year. I agree that the eyeshadows in this collection look so pretty but I'm trying to resist!

  9. Oh my gosh this is gorgeous, I currently only own one MSF but I now NEED this.

    1. I know it's sold out pretty much everywhere but TheBalm blush in Hot Mama is very similar (but prettier imo).

  10. Oh this looks so pretty in the pan but I agree - when on it just doesn't look as nice. It's still pretty with a peachy blush underneath, though! :)) Great post!

    1. I think it's the veining in these MSFs which make them so appealing. I'm sure I'll get more use out of this when it's summer and I bust out all my coral and peach blushes.
