My Skincare Routine

I love trying new beauty products but skincare isn't something I play around with.  I've had generally the same basic skincare routine for around 8 years.  I only try something new if something in my routine is discontinued.  I've included a picture of me without face makeup as I think there's no sense in me talking about skincare without showing my real skin.  I'm lucky to finally have clear skin and my only concern right now is preventing my skin from aging badly.

Info on my skin:  It's sensitive and dry.  I used to have very bad acne and was on Accutane twice. I'm very fair and burn easily so I don't purposely sunbathe.

My cleansing routine is:
*First wash my hands with anti-bacterial soap.  While washing my hands I wash my Sephora pore cleansing pad between my hands.
*I remove my eye makeup and eye brow pencil with baby wipes.  I just buy the cheapest ones in bulk.
*I splash my face with warm water then work a blob of jojoba oil (you can find this at health food stores) around my face to remove my foundation.  I then rinse it off.
*I rub Spectro Jel all over my face and over my closed eyes.  I then rub my Sephora pore cleansing pad all over my face (skipping my eyes).  I rinse my face thouroughly.

In the colder months I use Jamieson Vitamin E Gel Cream both morning and night but in the summer I use Sephora Instant Moisturizer in the morning.  The reason I switch my moisturizer is because the Jamieson cream takes a long time to dry when it's hot and humid and the Sephora moisurizer isn't thick enough for winter.

When I do get breakouts, I put a dab of Sudocrem on my pimples overnight.  Whenever I get pimples on my lips I use Polysporin lip balm and they usually heal in a couple of days.  If my skin is getting really dry I use Avene Gentle Purifying Scrub.  I don't use toners or face masques because I just don't want to take the risk of causing a breakout.  I do want to add an eye cream to my routine though.

Do you stick to a skincare routine or are you constantly trying new things?

  1. Thanks for sharing this. You are very patient to follow such a full routine daily. I use sudocrem on spots too, it works a treat.

  4. I keep a semi routine. Certain things change, but only after of few months of changing one thing. I wish my skin looked as nice as yours does! After I got hit a second time with acne my derm was fighting to put me on accutane for a second time so I have a couple indents and spots left over. I do recommend you try baby oil for removing eye makeup. And Vaseline as an eye cream I love it. I swear it helps my lashes grow because now they're healthy.

    1. Accutane is scary but I'm certain my skin would be a mess otherwise. I never thought to try Vaseline as an eye cream, thanks for the tip :)

  5. I try and stick to the same thing on a daily basis, I find abrupt changes make my skin go a little nuts sometimes
You have quite the routine here! I have baby wipes for pretty much everything including makeup removal! Definitely helps save money, those makeup removing wipes are usually so pricey, and sometimes they aren't even that good! I think I might do away with them completely (after I finish what I have in stock lol)

  6. Your skin is great! I still struggle with finding a set routine, I admire people who stick to a certain long term fade routine:)
