When Jess from J.S and Makeup asked if I wanted to do a makeup swap I jumped at the chance. Jess is English and studying in Paris and when she went home to London she picked me up and sent me some amazing British products to try. My package is still M.I.A. after sending it to her 4 weeks ago so I'm starting to worry!
I follow a lot of blogs from around the world and am always longing for products that I can't get in Canada. I have been lucky enough to go to the U.K. a lot so I know the amazingness of Boots and Superdrug but seeing as flight prices have sky rocketed I'm not going over anytime soon :( Barry M has to be one of my favourite British brands and I love their regular nail polishes. When I saw their new Textured polishes on British blogs I knew I had to try them.
Barry M Textured Nail Paints are essentially dupes of the OPI Liquid Sand Polishes in that they are gritty and look like stucco. I usually can't be bothered with nail art so this is an easy way to have your nail polish look more unique. The first coat of this polish applied very smoothly but it got harder with the second and third coat. I found the polish dried extremely quickly but I popped a top coat over it to see if it diminished the effect. This polish definately looks better without a topcoat as it makes the gritty texture more obvious.
Ridley Road is a stunning bright, pastel mint green colour that's perfect for spring. It is very similar to Barry M Nail Paint in Mint Green (which I also own) but it's lighter and almost neon. I'm going to be sporting this polish today as I think it's very Easter appopriate. I haven't tested this long enough to see if it chips so I will edit this post to report if it chipped quickly.

ReplyDeleteI hope you like it!
DeleteGorgeous! I'm going to have to get this! I've heard they're very long wearing too. Thanks for the review :) xx
ReplyDeleteIt ended up lasting well without chipping. Really impressed :)
DeleteThis looks super interesting! Not sure if I'm into the texture, but the shade is incredible! So wish we had Barry M. here in Toronto!

I normally don't like bumpy nails but there's something about this that I love. There were plans to bring Barry M to Canada awhile ago but they're still not here :(
Deleteits a bit odd, but the pastel blue makes it cute!
ReplyDeleteI think it's odd too but that's why I love it.
DeleteI really like the color but I don't know if I'm into textured polish since it kind of reminds me of what my nails look like if I paint them right before bed and woke up in the morning with it all messed up :P

Lol my sister said the same thing.
DeleteNot sure how I feel about these polishes..it almost looks like you touched your nails on fabric while they were wet lol. Love the color though. Fleur de Force had this polish in a pink, again I loved the color but just am not a fan of the "texture"
ReplyDeleteI think the texture is more obvious in real life. It looks like a stucco wall and is very gritty.
DeleteThanks for the lovely mention Christine! I've still yet to try these polishes out xx
ReplyDeleteThanks for the lovely makeup haha :)
