Illamasqua Blush in "Katie"

Once upon a time I would only wear peach blush and nude lips.  I loved the colour pink but found every pink blush I wore made me look too flushed.  This all changed with a quick trip to New York City.

I was going to NYC for under 48 hours and had a limit on how much I could spend before I was charged customs.  What does a shopaholic like me do? I hoped on a plane to New York with an empty suitcase so it would look like I didn't buy much.  I bought everything from deodorant to mascara once I landed in New York.  I went to the Sephora in Times Square with the intention of buying Illamasqua blush in "Lover" (a pale peach) but they were sold out.  The store was about to close and I needed blush to wear the next day and I just grabbed "Katie" on a whim.

The next morning as I got up early for my flight back to Toronto I applied Katie expecting to look washed out but I was amazed at how flattering it was on.  Katie is a lovely pale pink that is super pigmented.  The addition of a pink blush in my collection now meant I could wear cool toned lip colours with ease and thus my lipstick obsession was born.

I have since repurchased Katie three times and have given it to my sister as a gift (she loves it too!).  Anyone who has tried MAC's Well Dressed Blush might think it looks similar but this is a million times better. I really recommend this blush for anyone who has fair to medium skin.  I would imagine it would look ashy on darker skintones unfortunately.  As much as I love this blush it doesn't go well with very dark lipsticks so that's something to keep in mind as well.

Availability: Sephora, Illasmasqua.com, ASOS (available in a duo only)

  4. That is a lovely color! I have only finished one blush in my life, a Chanel that was similar in color to Rose d' Or. My problem is I went thru a 10 yr period of just buying and hoarding makeup, and not wearing it. But the blogging has helped me be a better user :)

  5. Gorgeous colour! I'm not one for pale pink blushers yet but I think you have convinced me to try one ;) I haven't tried any Illamasqua products either so I think this will be my first. Do they have good staying power? Xx

  14. Very pretty and soft on you and love it with pink lips! This would probably be the next Illamasqua blush I pick up if I were ever to buy another one. I have Naked Rose but I think it looks a bit too ruddy on me.
