theBalm Hot Mama

theBalm Hot Mama is marketed as both an eyeshadow and blush but I only ever use it as a blush so I will be reviewing it as such.  This is one of the oldest items in my collection and it's been much loved so please excuse it's ratty condition!

A few years ago I bought and fell in love with Benefit's blush in Coralista but something in it cause me to break out horribly so I needed a dupe.  Like the weirdo I am I walked around Toronto with Coralista swatched on my arm and comparing it to every coral blush in Sephora, Holt Renfrew, Shoppers, and Rexall.  I found a dupe at Rexall in the form of theBalm in Hot Mama which was around $15 cheaper than Benefit's offering.

I've loved this blush from day one as it is the perfect shade of coral and since it has a nice sheen to it you can skip the highlighter.  The cute and compact packaging is perfect for travelling so this blush always goes with me on vacation or weekends away.

There is one downside to this blush though and that is it is not versitile.  I own other coral blushes and they go together with many lip colours but Hot Mama only looks good with light pink lips.  It's a blush best suited for low maintenance days where you just want to wear natural makeup.

Availability: $19 at Select Pharma Plus/Rexall locations & Devu Cosmetics (currently 25% off with the code springsale)

P.S.: I reached 300 followers yesterday and I want to say a HUGE thank you to everyone who takes the time to read my blog.  I'm so grateful and all the lovely comments I get make my day.

  9. This is such a lovely shade! Definitely a good dupe for Coralista, which I also have. And walking around the city with a swatch on my arm is totally something I'd do, though I'm sure the ladies at Holt's wouldn't be too impressed with it ;)

Congrats on 300 followers! Exciting :)

    1. Yeah at Holts they pretty much ignored poor little me hence why I was glad to find a dupe elsewhere lol. Thanks Jen :)

  10. I compared this to NARS Orgasm which makes my skin look a little ruddy unless I'm wearing a full face. This is much more forgiving, and I think what it goes with depends heavily on your skintone. I love it on my eyelids, it's one of those pink shadows that doesn't make me look like I have pinkeye.

    1. You're totally right! Orgasm looked awful on me and this is much more flattering. I need to try this as an eyeshadow, thanks :)

This looks like a very pretty color, I think the Balm makes very nice products - I just don't know where to buy them aside from the internet. And I want to "try on" a few things.

    1. Thanks so much Jasmine :) I buy too much makeup online and I don't know why. I guess I trust Google Images too much lol.
