I wish I had an actual excuse for not posting as frequently as I used to but the honest truth is I've currently lost my drive to blog. BUT I am back today to share with you a fairly recent addition to my ever growing lipstick collection. I received 17's Supreme Shine Lipstick in "Hot Stuff" from my swap with Vicky a couple of months ago. 17 is a brand of makeup sold in Boots stores (in the U.K. & Ireland) and as far as I can tell you cannot get them anywhere else :(
Supreme Shine Lipsticks retail for £4.99/$8.15 CAD so they're around the same price as similar products such as Revlon's Lip Butters or Maybelline Color Whispers. The packaging is very simple but cute and classic. The tube can get a bit dirty and show finger prints but if that bothers you it easily wipes clean. Unlike other mositurising lipsticks I've tried the tip of the lipstick is slanted which I always prefer as it means it is easy to apply.
Colour wise I love the shade "Hot Stuff" as I'm a huge red lip fan and to be every single red out there is different. "Hot Stuff" in my opinion is a fairly neutral shade as it isn't too orange or too blue. It's pretty classic but very bold at the same time. The glossy finish makes it more wearable than something super matte but it is hard to tone down this particular lipstick. If you blot with a tissue it pulls a lot of the colour away which I don't like so I just leave it be.
Formula wise this is very comfortable to wear and doesn't dry out my lips. I tend to prefer satin or matte finishes for bold or dark colours as glossy shades tend to bleed. "Hot Stuff" bleeds but only a tiny bit which I'm really impressed with. I've always loved the look of glossy red lips so it's nice that I've finally found a product that helps me achieve that look. I did look at the 17 stand in Boots when I was in Scotland but the other colours looked like shades I already owned so I passed on them :(
