Review: Lancome Rouge in Love Lipstick in "Valentine"

I have wanted to try one of these lipsticks ever since they came out so when I redeemed my Shoppers Optimum points last weekend I thought I'd treat myself.  I chose this shade because it's a beautiful, dark true red.

Valentine compared to my other reds.
When I applied it in the morning it felt really moisturising and light with a glossy finish.  I was really impressed with this lipstick and made a mental note to check out more colours.  But as the day progressed my opinion of this lipstick changed completely.

This lipstick bled like crazy and no amount of blotting or lining my lips in concealer could stop it.  I suppose it could be fixed by using a lip liner but this is a $29 lipstick so I expect a lot more.  I ended up wiping it off and was left with ugly stained lips.  I'll try to make use of it but this will be the last lipstick I'll buy in this line.  There are some shades in the Revlon Lip Butter line that look similar so I'll be checking those out next instead.

Before it all went wrong...
Price: $29CAD
Availability: Shoppers Drug Mart & The Bay

  1. Oh no! ugh that sucks, I got this product in my luxebox it's a lip liner (clear) called no bleeding lips. I've never used it because I literally don't wear dark colors. I wonder if it is expensive but that could always be an option. It stinks though to dish out on a lipstick and not be totally satisfied with it.

  2. I've had this same problem with Lancome Red lipsticks they bleed all over and I look cRaZY in about an hour. But as you said you paid a lot so you expect a lot- one thing yo probably have on hand that might work is to use your concealer to create a barrier around your lips after putting on the lipstick, you ne a very fine lip brush but it works.

    1. That sucks that their other lipsticks are like that as well :( I actually tried that concealer trick with this particular lipstick and it did nothing.

  3. Too bad you didn't like it. I haven't tried anything from Lancome yet because I don't know why, but nothing from them appeals to me. The color is gorgeous though. Seems blue toned which I love in red lipsticks. xx

  5. I find that most highstreet branded dark lippies bleed apart from Rimmel's :) Definately check rimmel's lipstick collection as they have impressed me :)

    1. Really? I find most cheap lipsticks like Maybelline, Sleek, and Barry M all to be good. I haven't worn Rimmel lipsticks in ages but I definately need to check out some of the new Kate Moss ones. Thank you, I'm following you back :)
