My MAC Eyeshadow Palette

I'm sorry if this post isn't as exciting as the title would make it seem, but as you can see my MAC Pro Palette is pretty empty!  Once upon a time this baby was full of pretty MAC eyeshadows (which I've written the names of in the blank spaces) but as I finished them up I turned to cheaper brands to replace them.  Don't get me wrong, I think MAC have some amazing eyeshadows.  I'd just rather get a 12 eyeshadow palette from Sleek than 1 MAC eyeshadow for the same price and quality.  They do have some very unique shades and sometimes I just can't resist buying one to treat myself.

I'm 26 now and have been collecting MAC eyeshadows since I was around 18 so I've tried a fair few of them.  I did get my first MAC eyeshadow when I was 13 which was Pink Freeze which is a horrible frosty light pink and I remember when MAC eyeshadows came with a lid that twisted off.  I've also tried and owned Paradisco, Creme de Violet, Black Tied, Phloof, Idol Eyes, Shimmermoss, and Yogurt.

The colours in my palette are:

Aqua (Matte): I admittedly have never worn this!  But I'll be trying to create some looks this spring.  I'm thinking it's the perfect shade for a retro 60s look.
Greensmoke (Lustre): I received this for Christmas and reviewed it here.  It's a very pretty and unique shade.
Sable (Velvet): One of my all time favourite eyeshadows. This looks great alone all over the eyelid.
Cranberry (Frost): A stunning colour that is suprisingly easy to wear.  I'm wearing it in this post.
Nylon (Frost): This is a pale gold that I use mainly in the innor corners of my eyes.  Very beautiful and pigmented shade.
Mulch (Velvet): I reviewed this here.  Mulch is a beautiful dark bronze and is a nice crease colour.
Omega (Matte): I used to use this to fill in my eyebrows but now I prefer it as an eyelid colour.  This may seem boring in the pan but it's a very versitile colour and a good one to have.

You can buy MAC eyeshadows without the plastic packaging for $12 and they're $18 otherwise.  My palette is now discontinued and MAC offers nicer, more sturdier palettes but they're more expensive.  The 15 eyeshadow palette is $32.50 (this includes the eyeshadow insert which comes seperately), but you can also buy 2 or 4 eyeshadow palettes for $11 each.

Overall I do recommend MAC eyeshadows but they're definately a luxury product.  I wouldn't recommend running out and buying 15 of them when there are cheaper products out there that are just as nice.

  3. I like that your MAC palette isn't full! You've got a nice range of neutrals and some more unique colours, which beats spending gazillions on 15 shadows :P

  6. I am so with you on the cost difference between MAC and other brands! I'm always googling alternatives. I really want to try out some of Makeup Geeks eyeshadows because I've heard that they're about the same color and quality-wise! I can only order Sleek offline but I'm tempted!

Aqua looks amazing! I dont have any color like that.

    1. I've never heard of Makeup Geeks, I need to look them up! Sleek has such cheap shipping ($2.77 to North America) and it's express shipping. Their eyeshadows are amazing and they have lots of MAC dupes.

    1. This would have been like 14 years ago (scary to think I've been wearing makeup for that long). Depot them all so you can get a free lipstick!

  9. Those are really pretty colors. Nylon really stands out to me. I was happy to read that you have up buying Mac for cheaper alternatives. I think sometimes we get caught up in names and forget that others can be just as good--- I'm totally guilty of that! I really enjoyed this post!
    Thanks
