NYX Round Lipstick in Marrakesh Pink

Random fact about me:  One of the best compliments I've ever received was when some old man on the subway came up to me and said I looked like I was "straight out of the 1960s".  I'm obsessed with the past and my two favourite decades fashion and beauty wise are the 1940s and 1960s.  I've already shared my love for 40s lip colours such as red and deep pinks and now that we're moving into the spring I'm loving the look of late 1960s style makeup.  I was drawn to NYX's Round Lipstick in Marrakesh Pink because it looked like the perfect Brigitte Bardot style of lip colour.

Marrakesh Pink is a beautliful pastel peachy-pink.  It has a hint of brightness to it which to me makes it much more special and wearable than the typical nude.  This admittedly looks better with a tan but seeing as it's not warm enough yet I didn't bother putting on fake tan for the picture above.  Marrakesh Pink is somewhat similar to one of my all time favourite limited edition shades from MAC, Playing Koi.

This lipstick is a matte shade so it is drying and will show any flaws in your lips.  I tend to prefer to wear this with a shimmery nude gloss on top.  Unlike other matte lipsticks though this feels very light on my lips so if it's not too dry outside it's fairly comfortable to wear.  It isn't the most long lasting lipstick but that's not a huge issue for me as I'm constantly reapplying my lipsticks anyways.  Unlike the other NYX Round Lipsticks I've tried this doesn't bleed or end up all over my face if I eat something.

I picked this lipstick up at Designer Cosmetics at Yonge & Bloor in Toronto which in my opinion has the best selection of NYX products in the Toronto area.  You can get NYX at Pharma Plus but they don't have the full line so I'm not 100% sure if they sell this shade.

Availability: Designer Cosmetics $5.95, NYX Canada $5.99, FTB Beauty $4.00

  2. This shade suits your fair skin. It's likely too light for my skintone. I love how affordable NYX lippies are.

    1. I should have called this "the perfect nude for fair skin" because I think it's so hard to find nudes that don't wash us pale girls out.

  16. Ah, I would've loved that compliment too! :) I'm jealous of the way you can pull off nude lipsticks. This looks lovely! I'd love to emulate a Brigitte Bardot look, but nudes generally wash me out. Definitely want to check out other NYX matte lipsticks, though!

  18. This looks beautiful, I'm obsessed with peachy-pinks at the moment as I just think they are the loveliest day to day shades for Spring. I can't say I've ever tried any lipsticks from NYX so will have to change that as they are very reasonably priced.
