Jasmine from Green Eyed Monster! to do a joint review on Wet N' Wild Lipstick in Purty Persimmon. Jasmine and I did a (almost) swap where she kindly offered to send me some American beauty products and I sent her a couple Bourjois things and some non-beauty stuff.
I've only ever seen Wet N' Wild in Wal-Mart (back in the 90s you could get it at drugstores) . Since I live in downtown Toronto and don't drive Wal-Mart isn't a place I get to go to often and the few Toronto Wal-Marts all have makeup departments that look like a bunch of 3 year olds were let loose in (Rexdale Wal-Mart, I'm looking at you!). So, I was over the moon to receive a few Wet N' Wild products from Jasmine.
Purty Persimmon initially reminded me of MAC's Lady Danger which as been on my wishlist forever so I don't need it anymore :) It is a vivid reddish orange in a matte finish and is an absolutely beautiful colour. I have swatched it with the most similar colour in my collection, Sleek Papaya Punch and you can see Purty Persimmon is darker and bolder.
As with most matte formulas this is a little bit drying when on but it's not too bad. I'm not a fan of the shape of the lipstick as I find slanted lipsticks easier to apply but it's not a huge issue. The packaging of this lipstick is basic and sleek and pretty sturdy too. I'm very impressed with the performance of this lipstick and will be checking out more Wet N' Wild lipsticks in the future.
