Illamasqua Pure Pigment in Ore

Eeek please ignore my dry skin!
Ever since I fell in love with Illamasqua a few years ago on a trip to New York, they have fast become my favourite high end brand.  Their colours and pigmentation are like no other brand I've ever seen and up until last November, their products weren't available in Canada.  My friend Alexandra is a super talented Glasgow, Scotland based makeup artist who used to work for Illamasqua  (please go checkout her amazing work here).  When I went to Scotland in 2011 Alexandra helped me pick out the products she would recommend the most and the Pure Pigment in "Ore" was one of them.

Pure Pigments are loose powders that have mutiple uses.  They can be used as eyeshadow, mixed with nail polish to alter the colour or add shimmer, or they can be used as a highlighter or bronzer depending on your skin tone.  I have only used this shade as an eyeshadow as I think it is too dark to be used on my face.  "Ore" is a super shimmery and sparkley shade that has reflects of various shades of gold, bronze, and green.  I have bluish green eyes that tend to lean more towards green but when I wear this my eyes look more blue as seen above so that's my favourite thing about this colour.

My only gripe with this product is the packaging.  The packaging is very pretty but it's not very funtional as I find that the hole that the powder comes out of is way too large.  I'm pretty clumbsy so I always make a mess when I use it as powder flies everywhere once I open the lid.  Saying that, you only need a tiny amount of product for every use so it will last forever.  I do prefer this over MAC Pigments as those tend to crease on me whereas this Illasmasqua Pure Pigment lasts all day on my eyelids with primer on underneath.

Availability: ASOS, $27CAD or  Sephora, $29CAD

    1. Yeah Illamasqua packaging is pretty bad in reality :( The product inside makes up for it though.

  2. This is such a pretty shade! I do find pigments messy though so I can imagine having trouble with the packaging too.
