MAC Lustre Lipstick in Cockney

A couple of weeks ago I went to MAC and picked out this lipstick for free with their Back 2 MAC program.  I basically want every lipstick MAC makes yet on that day the shade Cockney really stood out to me.  Cockney reminds me of Dorthoy's ruby red slippers but in lipstick form.  It is a cool toned red with fine red glitter throughout. I normally don't like glitter in my lipstick but it just looked so pretty I picked it out without even trying it on.

Lustre lipsticks from MAC are sheer and are notorious for being drying.  Cockney is sheer on the first layer but it is easy to build up as I have in the picture above.  I wouldn't describe this lipstick as drying but it isn't particularly moisturising either.  Even though Cockney is glittery it isn't gritty nor does it look frosty when on your lips.

The one downside of this lipstick is that it bleeds like crazy on it's own.  I need to wear a lip liner underneath which defeats the purpose of a "sheer" lipstick.  Although I love this shade and will wear it I wouldn't recommend running out and spending $18 on it.  Revlon has Lip Butters in similar shades and they don't bleed and are very moisturising on.

Availability: MAC $18

  2. I love the colour and would definitely try the Revlon lip butters seeing as this isn't very moisturising and bleeds

    1. Thanks Vicky :) I need to pay more attention to the finishes of MAC lipsticks next time. I've only ever liked Amplified and Satin lipsticks.

  7. That is a gorgeous shade! The best ones always bleed! I guess to get that amazing color it needs some slip, and its no fun to wear a lip liner and dull it. Sad :(

  10. I don't usually buy Lustre finishes because of the pigmentation but it looks so pretty on you. It's a shame it bleeds though.

  14. I picked this up a few years ago on the MAC website when for some reason they marketed it as pink... anyway, it's a lovely red but for some reason I never find myself reaching for it which is shame because the colour is lovely and t really suits you. x

    1. I could see it being a pink on darker skin since it's sheer! I definately don't prefer it to my other reds but it is nice. Thank you :)
