Products That I Used to Love

I saw this tag on Sally's blog, The Makeup Directory and I thought it seemed like an interesting post to do.  I have loved a lot of makeup items in my time but after a while your style changes, you get sick of things, or most annoyingly brands discountinue your favourite products!

L'Oreal True Match: I started using this when I was in university as it was the only drugstore foundation pale enough for me.  I used this foundation up until my discovery of Bourjois Healthy Mix in 2011.  I'd still recommend L'Oreal True Match but it's very heavy on your face and isn't that long lasting.
MAC Lipstick in Hue: I went through many many tubes of this lipstick and looking back it looked awful on me.  It's way too light for my skintone and just washed me out.
LORAC Blush in Peach: I wore this blush religiously throughout university and would finish one pot in about 3 months!  It started breaking me out a few years ago so I think they changed the formula.
The Body Shop Liquid Eyeliner: This was the liner I wore the most when I was in university.  It started to annoy me since it smudges so easily.
Nars Eyeshadow Duo in Key Largo:  Another item I loved as a student and god knows why I would spend so much on eyeshadow when I was on a tight budget.  It is a lovely duo though I just don't think I could spend that much on 2 eyeshadows again.
Bonne Bell Lipsmackers: The item that got me into makeup.  I think everyone loved these as a preteen.  They are way too sweet for me now but I did buy these for my preteen cousins for Christmas.
MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural: This is a nice powder but you don't get much product for your money.  I also found that it didn't last very long on my face.
Bourjois Volume Glamour: This used to give me perfect bold and curled lashes but it just doesn't work for me anymore.
Benefit Moon Beam: This was the best Benefit highlighter yet they discontinued it :( It was a pearly pale yellow shade.
Dove Sensitive Essentials Day Lotion: This was such a nice light and gentle moisturiser. So sad it's discontinued :(
Revlon Colorstay Mineral Finishing Powder: Revlon claims this is still for sale but I haven't seen it in years.  It was the perfect and subtle shimmer powder.
Benefit Snap Out of It Scrub: This was an amazing scrub that smelt like honey.  I have yet to find anything like it.
Maybelline Mineral Power Concealer: The best concealer ever and I know other people loved it too.  Why did you discontinue this Maybelline!? It was perfect for both blemishes and under eyes and was so cheap.
Maybelline Mineral Power Blush: Again, why Maybelline!? Why!? This blush was so pigmented and long lasting.

What products have you fallen out of love with or miss?

  3. Great idea for a post, thinking about it there are so many products that I used to stick to and buy religiously, but that clearly went out the window when I got into blogging! I didn't really go off many of them either, just got tempted by pastures new - might have to repurchase some blasts from the past and see how they measure up now.
I really hate it when brands discontinue well-loved products, especially seeing as some of the rubbish ones tend to stick around instead. I don't understand the logic.

    1. It's so true, once you start blogging you don't want to repurchase the same things. I think brands should take the time to look up reviews online before discontinuing stuff!

  4. Great post! It's got me thinking of all the products I used to use. I swore by L'Oreal Voluminous mascara for years and was addicted to Bourjois blusher. I never use either now! Xx

  5. This is such a great post! I might have to do something like this myself, now that you've got me thinking about all of the products I used to love. Like matte foundations...why did I do that to myself?!

  6. I used to LOVE Chanel's Vitalumiere foundation, I still like the newer version, but I don't even know how I went thru 2 to 3 bottles a year. I also used to adore Estee Lauder Beautiful perfume, I still like it but not like I did when I was 18!

  7. Good idea for a post. I used to love Estée Lauder More than Mascara. It was the only mascara I ever used, but now I like being able to try different ones. I still love it though!

  10. Moonstone was discontinued??? Noooo! I honestly have never met anyone that MAC Hue works for -- it's just so pale.

  16. Fun tag! It's nice to read about a mix of discontinued favourites and products that didn't live up to the hype. I totally remember the BeneFit Honey scrub. Wish they still had their old skin care range. And I was a Lipsmacker fanatic too- amazingly, I still use the Dr. Pepper flavour on a regular basis. Not to sweet and leaves a great rosy tint! :)

  20. Sweet tag! I tried Hue on once and similarly to you- not a good look. I remember finding a maybelline foundation when I was young that was pale enough- got discontinued and I was heartbroken. You might like Benefit Girl Meets Pearl as an alternative to Moon Beam- both have the warm glow x

  24. What a great tag idea... I might have to do this one! It's crazy how we can swear by something for years and then one day just be completely over it. Before I was really into MAC eyeshadows I was obsessed with this Cover Girl trio in Cafe Au Lait. I used to wear it everyday, but I haven't touched it in years.
