Illamasqua Powder Blush in Morale

Illamasqua's collection of blushes are mostly matte but they do have a handful of shimmer blushes, Morale being one of them.  I always prefer shimmery blushes as it means I can skip highlighter.  As you can see above my blush has broken and depotted.  I was sent this by my friend who worked for Illamasqua at the time and she warned me that there were problems with this blush breaking.  The intense purple pigment is unique and not often used for blushes so I forgive Illamasqua for making it so soft.

Morale is a bright pinky-purple with silver and pink shimmer throughout it.  It looks very scary at first but once blended it looks like a beautiful cool toned rosy pink.  The shimmer in this blush is very subtle and natural and is really only visible in natural light so I took my picture above next to a sunny window.  Out of all the blushes I've tried the only one I've come across that is similar is MAC's Dollymix which is more pink and less shimmery.

Since this colour is so intensely pigmented I apply less blush than I normally would with other shades.  This therefore affects the staying power and this is the only Illamasqua blush I have to re-apply.  As my blush is broken this proves to be a very messy task so I have to do it over a sink.  I don't think Illamasqua's packaging is very sturdy so I have to wonder that if this was packaged better whether it would have stayed intact.

Overall I love the colour of Morale and would recommend it on that alone.  The quality of the blush itself and the packaging are admittedly a let down considering the price.  Illamasqua occassionally has very good sales on their website so that might justify purchasing it.

Availability: Sephora, ASOS, Illamasqua

  1. I have been dying to try Illamasqua blushes as the reviews all over the internet are always so good. I have so many blushes that it is hard to justify, but Morale is so pretty. I agree with you on the shimmer. It's easy, and just so pretty on the cheeks.

    1. I'd recommend their more unique colours like Morale, Katie, and Hussy because that's what I think they do best :)

  4. Wow that is a really cool color! I think you may have more blushes than I do! A lot of my blushes fade within a few hours, I need a blush primer :)

    1. Haha I think I only have one more left to review. Illamasqua's matte blushes last a really long time, I recommend them if that's what you're looking for :)

  5. I really liked this shade and you have applied it quite nicely. I may get it b/c I have a lipstick that is similar and feel like it would look good together. :)

  7. Wow, this is such a beautiful colour! It does look a bit scary in the pan, but it seems to blend out nicely. Reminds me a bit of Sleek Pomegranate, which I've had my eye on for a while.

  8. Glad you were able to salvage this after it broke! Looks so pretty on you. I always like blushes that look totally scary in the pan but are actually quite wearable when applied softly :)

    1. It was sent from overseas which is probably why it broke :(

  10. That's a gorgeous color. It's a shame it broke. I love Illamasqua blushes and I don't mind a little shimmers on my cheeks.
