1. Wet N' Wild "Tonight's Gonna Be The Night" sandwiched betwen Essie "Ballet Slippers" 2. Hard Candy "Cocoa Smore" 3. Wet N' Wild "Tonight's Gonna Be The Night"over Model's Own "Utopia" |
While at Wal-Mart last week I picked up Hard Candy's speckled nail polish in "Cocoa Smore" and spotted a black glitter by Wet N Wild called "Tonight's Gonna Be The Night". Both polishes were around $4 so I thought, why not get them both? Cocoa Smore is a brownish grey with matte black and silver glitter throughout it. It needs only two coats to be opaque but unfortunately it didn't have the best staying power and started to chip a lot after around 12 hours of wear. Tonight's Gonna Be The Night on the other hand is a topcoat with matte black and gold glitter that you can wear on top of any nail colour for a speckled effect. I also tried it sandwiched between a sheer polish which I think gave a better effect.
Neither polish is exactly like the Illamasqua polishes but considering the low price tag for both Hard Candy and Wet N Wild polishes they're close enough for me! If I had to choose between the two the Wet N Wild one would win since the staying power is amazing and since it's a top coat it is more versitile.
What do you think of the speckled nail trend?
I love the shape of the hard candy polishes :)

Haha me too I love anything mini sized!
DeleteI like the trend but not sure how it'll look on my short nails lol, xoxo.
ReplyDeleteI have short nails and it looked good! I just didn't want the world to see my gross, dry hands lol.
DeleteI like it but I don't love it so finding a cheaper alternative would make more sense to me. They look nice on the swatch. I personally prefer #3.
ReplyDeleteI love it but I can see myself getting sick of it hence why I'd rather pay $5!
DeleteI like the hard candy one
ReplyDeleteIt's very pretty but the quality isn't the best :(
DeleteCocoa Smore is so nice! They look really effective too. I spotted a similar polish on the Accessorize stand last week that I may try out xx
ReplyDeleteAhhh I can't wait to see it! I've tried Accessorize polishes and they're so nice.
Deletethis looks very pretty ! I really love the cocoa smore :) thanks for these great dupes! x x x

Thanks Katie :)
DeleteI am not a big fan of the speckled polishes or the texture ones - its a sensory thing. I like my nails smoooooth :) but I do have that Fergie polish so I might try it! Thanks for the great swatches!
ReplyDeleteIt's essentially matte glitter though! They feel fairly smooth with a top coat on top :)
DeleteI have the wet and wild one :) x

They had such nice glitters and I'm really impressed with the quality :)
DeleteOoh, I'm surprised at how much I like the brown tones in Cocoa Smore and am now super curious about the Wet N' Wild versions! Nice to hear that the formula of those is long-wearing; that is the downfall of the Hard Candy polishes- they chip pretty easily. Thanks for the swatches and thanks so much for mentioning my blog! xo

I originally wanted one of the coloured ones but I like how wearable Cocoa Smore is. And no problem, I love your blog so I had to link you :)
DeleteWish those Hard Candy polishes were available here - I saw some other colours featured on other blogs and the pastel/milkier ones are so gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteHopefully other brands bring out some dupes so you can get your hands on some :)
DeleteOoo these are so cute! i wish we had these brands in the UK!

I wish you did too :(
DeleteI love them! The sparkles are just the right size and not too overpowering. xx
ReplyDeleteI think that's why I liked them too. The matte glitter is much more neutral than typical glitter (which I still love but it's not really work appropriate).
DeleteThey look soo amazing! I wish we could buy things like this in in England :( I've nominated you for the versatile blogger award :) xxx
