Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner

I've been wearing winged eyeliner everyday for years.  I usually use Rimmel Glam Eyes Liquid Eyeliner or MAC Fluidline but when my sister (who doesn't like either of those eyeliners) asked for a new eyeliner for Christmas I did some research into what was the "best" out there.  I had heard a lot about this eyeliner and when I swatched it on my hand in Sephora it didn't come off my hand for a day despite regular washing.  So I picked one up for her and one for myself because I needed a new eyeliner.

I was really excited to try this eyeliner and my sister and I both put it on it for the first time together when we were getting ready for New Years...and we both hated it!  I'm pretty good at applying eyeliner but I found this tricky to use as the nib is too thick and you constantly have to shake it to get the product out.  Despite that it looked amazing on and very black.

What really brings this eyeliner down is it's lack of staying power.  I have dry skin so I don't often have an issue with makeup melting off but as you can see in the picture of my eye this smudges so easily.  As this is the most expensive eyeliner I've ever tried I'm really let down and have high expectations of a product at this price point.

I'll use this eyeliner up but I'll never buy this again that's for sure.  I feel badly now for giving my sister such a crappy eyeliner as a gift :(

Availability: Sephora & Shoppers Drug Mart (I think it was $26)

  3. I have had hit or miss experiences with the felt tip eyeliners as well, eyeko works pretty well. I am mostly gel eyeliner all the way for good results. I cannot remember Sephora's return policy - could you possibly exchange it?

    1. I feel like the Sephora girls are starting to recognize me as a serial returner so I'm afraid haha. I find gel is never black and bold enough :(

    1. I bought it because of Smash lol. My sister said the Eyeko one sucked but maybe she got a lemon? I just think felt tip eyeliners aren't for me. I prefer liquid eyeliner with a little brush.

  6. aww man. I was gonna look into stila, since it's supposed to be known for its staying power. I guess not...it likely won't work for my super oily lids. But thanks for the heads up :D

    1. Yeah, you're better off getting a drugstore eyeliner. Which is good news since this is pretty expensive.

  7. Such a bummer that this was a let down - especially for $26, geeze! I was actually watching a YouTube video today of someone using a Stila eyeliner in a tutorial and she was raving about how it was her favorite eyeliner because of how creamy and blendable it is for dramatic looks! I'm going to go back now and see if this isn't the same one!

    1. This eyeliner has a great rating on Makeupalley and seems to be loved by many people. I just can't believe how horribly it performed.

  11. I always find it to be a massive issue when you buy an eyeliner and it smudges. Even though I adore liquid eye liner, by the end of the day I look like a panda! Your review is so accurate.
Loving how cute your blog is! xx

    1. I usually never have a problem with smudging so for this to smudge on me I can only imagine how it would work out on people with oily skin. Thank you :)
