Illamasqua Lipstick in Fable

Illamasqua is hands down my favourite high end brand.  They have an amazing selection of the most unique colours with great pigmentation.  Majority of the lipsticks in my collection are light pink but Fable is way differant than any other light pink I've tried before.

Illamasqua describes Fable as a "matte bright rose pink" and although there are roses in this shade I have to disagree with this description.  To me, fable is a warm toned light pink, I would even go as far as saying it could be described as a coral.  It has a very summery and 1960s vibe to it in my opinion.  Like all Illamasqua lipsticks that I've tried, Fable is very opaque and none of my natural lip colour shows through.  I have pigmented lips so I appreciate that this lipstick looks identical on my lips and in the tube.

The finish of Fable is extremely matte which means it can unfortunately show any dryness you have on your lips.  Although I prefer the matte look I often pair this with some gloss to make it more comfortable to wear.  Illamasqua lipsticks are very thick on the lips so they need a lot of blotting.  All of the work is worth it though as this lipstick is very long lasting and doesn't move all around my face (I seem to have this problem a lot!).

Availability: Sephora and Illamasqua

  11. Yes, this is totally a retro pink! So flattering on you. I don't own any Illamasqua lipsticks, but have been so tempted by your reviews... *Wishlist grows* ;)

Thanks also for your previous heads-up about the Real Techniques brushes at Wal-Mart. As you saw on my fb, I finally saw them today and went home with the Core Collection set :)

  12. Wowww, this is SUCH a matte lipstick! I agree with you that it's not rose-coloured at all, it's such a bright yellow-pink!

    1. Yeah the thickness makes the matte effect so much more visible!

  13. I love this color on you! and the "matte-ness" of it - but I can see how you would have to exfoliate and balm it up before applying. Sephora's VIB sale is coming up, this is on my want list :)

  17. Looks great on you. I had such a hard time pulling off this color. Doesn't flatter my skintone and it's too dry for me.
