Maybelline Color Sensational Vivid Lipstick in Shocking Coral

It's pretty obvious I have a lipstick buying problem but I just couldn't help myself when I saw this beautiful lipstick at Shoppers.  I had read many rave reviews on Maybelline's new Color Sensational Vivids lipsticks and when I saw the collection in real life I was blown away at the colours.  I limited myself to one and picked out Shocking Coral as it seemed like the perfect lipstick for spring.

I wouldn't describe this as a coral, it's more of a neon warm toned pink.  Shocking Coral actually reminds me of another lipstick I own, MAC's Impassioned but a lighter and warmer version.  This particular lipstick is a cream yet I could have sworn the tester in Shoppers had some shimmer running through it.

Maybelline's Color Sensational lipsticks are pigmented and creamy but from my experience they are kind of drying.  Seeing as this is a colour I'm more likely to wear in the spring and summer the dryness isn't a huge issue for me but it may bother some.  I still think Revlon has the best lipstick forumlas in the drugstore but Maybelline seems to have a nicer selection of colours.

The price of these lipsticks will vary based on where you buy them.  I bought this for $10.99 at Shoppers Drug Mart (full price) and think that's a reasonable price.

  2. This colour looks gorgeous on you! That is my only problem with Maybelline - there colours are never subtle, which is what I need/want! Fab review tho :)

  6. I prefer this to impassioned! It seems a little less jarring, despite the neon-ness.

    1. I still prefer Impassioned but think this is a good one for those afraid of how bold Impassioned is.

  9. Ooh, this shade is totally up my alley- and very pretty on you! Reminds me of a slightly more pink version of MAC Crosswires, which I love! xo

  11. This color is gorgeous! I would've bought these if they changed the scent of the lippie. I'm not a fan of it.

  12. I love all the colors they came out with - I have resisted getting this one, but I may have to give in! I think with "our" pale skin it really gives a pretty pop of color without looking harsh. and again I still can't believe how much they charge for this is Canada - It's $5.54 at Target here. I tried looking at the Target Canada website and you can't buy anything off it, but it has the sales flyer for Toronto and it seems close to "our" pricing - so maybe soon you can get better deals. :)

    1. Wal-Mart would be pretty cheap too I just don't live anywhere near a Wal-Mart or Target :( I should have just ordered it off eBay but it was a spur of the moment purchase lol.
