Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum Foundation

My all time favourite foundation is Bourjois Healthy Mix but you can't get in Canada so I'm on a mission to find something more readily available.  We have a limited (and overpriced!) selection of Bourjois products in Canada and Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum is one of two foundations for sale in Shoppers Drug Mart locations nationwide.  This foundation costs a whopping $27 CAD which is $10 more than it costs in Europe.  I'd recommend swatching Bourjois products in store then purchasing them from ASOS or eChemist who both ship to Canada for free.

My main concern with foundation is finding something that looks natural while evening out my skintone and covering some of my acne scars and dark undereye circles.  Bourjois claims this has a "semi-matte" finish whereas in my opinion it is dewy which I prefer.  Healthy Mix Serum does a good job at making my skintone more even but I still need a lot of concealer under my eyes.  I have tried various ways of applying this foundation and I think it looks the best when I use my fingers.

I love how this foundation looks when I first apply it and it feels very comfortable to wear.  I swear my skin feels softer since I've been wearing it so the serum it contains is actually useful.  This foundation would be perfect for me if it weren't for the fact that it's not very long lasting.  I don't have oily skin at all yet by the end of the work day my face looks really greasy when I wear this foundation.  The original Bourjois foundation lasts for hours on me, even in extreme heat and humidity which is why I'll always prefer it.  I'll save this foundation for days off and am still continuing my search for a dupe of the original Healthy Mix seeing as Bourjois Canada has no plans in bring it to our stores:

  3. Original Healthy Mix is on my wishlist for some time now))) But lightest shade I've seen is only 52 :( And I want 51... Oh well... Great review, I like it when products are shown on face and you can see how they work ^^

    1. Yeah I've heard that in some countries 52 is the lightest :( I'm pretty pale though and 52 has worked for me in the summer so maybe you can try it once you get a bit of colour?

    1. I really don't know why Bourjois isn't in the U.S. anymore! I'm sure they'll be selling their products there soon.

  7. You look so lovely without - I would never have guessed you were on Accutane at one point - never! But I know I like to be "evenly" pale so I like me some good foundation. I have heard nothing but good reviews about this product, except for the fact it's ridiculously high priced out of the UK. I really racked my brain (seriously for like an hour) thinking of alternatives, and all I can think of is the CoverGirl Olay foundation "Tone Rehab" I've tried it and it's medium+ coverage, it runs a little pink. I'll see if I can't snag you a sample!

    1. I think the Chanel foundations are meant to be the same since they own Bourjois? But Chanel seems so dark! Thanks Jasmine, I'll go test that one out :) My parents are going to the UK in June so I'll have my mum buy me Healthy Mix but I don't know how long a bottle of foundation lasts before going bad? Cause I'd ask for like 10 bottles lol.

    2. The shelf life of foundation is 2 years unopened (you may need to shake it up a bit after 2 years) :)

    1. I thought it was all just a marketing ploy at first but my skin feels like a baby's bum when it's usually dry and gross.

  11. Ah, I never realized Healthy Mix and Healthy Mix Serum were two different foundations! The Serum really does look lovely on you, but I agree- it isn't long-lasting enough! I tried it out and loved the coverage and colour match, but it was far too dewy for my combo/oily skin. Would definitely be interested in trying the original Healthy Mix if it ever makes its way to Canada!

    1. Thanks Jen :) It's a shame it doesn't last long because it'd other wise be perfect.

  12. I love the healthy mix serum too! but I was thinking about getting this as I thought it would be a bit more dewy but your review has made me think twice as my skin does get slightly oily so it properly wouldn't be great for me!
Great review thanks hun! :) x

    1. Yeah I think the original is better for oily skin. I don't even get oily and the serum was too greasy for me. I think it's more suited for mature skin. Thanks Hannah :)

  15. You look amazing with or without makeup!

I wish Bourjois products weren't so overpriced here. They're priced like high-end products, when in Europe they're drugstore-level I think!

  16. You have such lovely skin!

Sorry to hear it's not readily available in Canada. I live in the UK and Bourjois is everywhere. Makes me glad to be in the UK. But at times I wish I live in the USA as they have Sephora, ARGH!
